Spinks Hired as New Director of Strategic Campus Partnerships

Sonia Spinks has been named director of strategic campus partnerships at the U of A effective Dec. 2, 2024.  

In her role, Spinks will manage the university's relationship with several campus partners and their respective areas of operation. These partnerships include: 

• Barnes and Noble (University Bookstore) 

• Ricoh (Print/Mail/Copy services) 

• Coca-Cola (Campus beverage provider) 

• Campus Card Office 

• Chartwells (Dining Services) working in partnership with Student Affairs 

Spinks' background in management and experience in merchandising and operational standards will allow her to have an immediate impact in the position. She is filling the role previously held by Lynne Bell, who retired in November.  

"I'm excited to welcome Sonia to our team," said Clayton Hamilton, senior associate vice chancellor for campus services. "Her experience and ability to foster cross-functional relationships will benefit our university right away." 

A 2001 U of A graduate, Spinks is returning to Fayetteville, where she received a bachelor's degree in computer systems engineering. She spent time at Sprint as a process re-engineering specialist while earning a master's degree in engineering management at the University of Kansas.  

In February 2008, Spinks accepted a position with Walmart and Sam's Club's corporate office as a process/project planner. Over 16 years, Spinks worked her way from a specialist to a senior director of merchandising operations.  

She is excited to return to her alma mater, where she will offer expertise and enthusiasm to the U of A's Division of Finance and Administration.
