New Website Helps Visitors Navigate Campus During Summer Construction

There are a lot of improvement projects underway or being scheduled on campus this summer, from renovations in and around the Arkansas Union and Mullins Library to the Fulbright Dining Center to the HPER facility on Stadium Drive. A new website has been created that will help you navigate campus and get where you need to go around those construction sites.

If you are walking on campus, you may see some signs that say "Improvements Underway" with a QR code that will lead you to the website for summer wayfinding.

The site also links to information about campus dining, including which options are open and hours of operation during the summer. You will also find links to Transit and Parking information for places you can park on campus and summer bus routes.

U of A Facilities Management and Transit and Parking teams are working diligently to make sure our beautiful campus is welcoming and impressive for the fall semester. Here are some of the highest-impact projects that will take place this summer and the effect they will have on those who are on campus.

Senior Walk
Facilities Management crews are in the process of adding all 2022 graduate names to campus sidewalks and are expecting to finish in July. Crews plan to immediately begin on 2023 graduate names upon the completion of the class of 2022.

North Campus
Reid Hall is undergoing window replacements, and each Maple Hill residence hall is requiring roof repairs. Crews have closed Lot 41 north of Reid Hall and part of Lot 40 north of Hotz Hall as a result.

The Fulbright Dining Hall will be closed for the entire summer for renovations and improvements.

Center Campus
Renovations of the 4th and 6th floors of the Arkansas Union will bring updated looks to the Multicultural Center and the Student Organizations offices, respectively.

A new look for the 1st and 2nd floors of Mullins Library continues, with an expected completion of early fall. The west entrance is currently closed but will reopen this summer, and the east entrance will then be closed for the rest of the summer.

The Central Quad between Mullins Library and the Arkansas Union will undergo renovations that will affect walkways for part of the summer. You can access the campus map to find alternate routes around the construction zone.

Construction will also continue on the Fine Arts building to improve classrooms, offices, bathrooms and the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

South Campus
White Engineering Hall is undergoing a historic preservation project to replace all exterior windows, partially funded by federal grant money. Interior renovations are also ongoing.

The west entrance of the HPER near the Meadow Street Garage will be closed for the summer - the east and north entrances will remain open. Interior work on the 2nd floor will improve classrooms and common spaces.

The westside plaza of the Walton College of Business is undergoing planned repairs to improve access and function. The eastside entrance will remain open.

Roof and window replacements at Yocum Hall will require the south end of Lot 50 to be closed.

Road Closures
Both lanes of Dickson Street between Duncan Avenue and Arkansas Avenue will be closed in early July to accommodate construction around the Institute of Integrative and Innovative Research's needs and add sidewalks.

Parking Maintenance
Levels 7-9 of the Harmon Parking Garage and Level 3 of the Stadium Drive Parking Garage will be closed for summer maintenance.

Several lots will be sealcoated throughout June and July, and indicative signage will be placed at the entrances of those lots.

Transit
Razorback Transit is running its non-peak schedule and routes for the summer. There will be no service on July 4, July 8 or Aug. 10.

You can contact Facilities Management at 479-575-5050 for questions about construction on campus. Contact the Transit and Parking Office for questions regarding lot/garage closures at parking@uark.edu or 479-575-7275. You may also call the Dean of Students office at 479-575-5004.
