Department of Sociology & Criminology Students Win National Research Awards

Two graduate students from the Department of Sociology and Criminology won national research awards from the American Society of Criminology–Division on Terrorism and Bias Crimes.

Congratulations to Ethan Mitchell, who won the ASC-DTBC Graduate Student Paper Award (second place) for his paper titled "Examining Gender Roles in Terrorism Cases Across Ideology."

Congratulations also to Sophia Glick, who won the ASC-DTBC inaugural Graduate Fellowship Award for her project titled "Predicting Fatal Outcomes: A Situational Analysis of Bias-Motivated Violence in America." The Graduate Fellowship Award also comes with $1k to support her research.

Data for these projects are housed in U of A's Terrorism Research Center.

Both Mitchell and Glick will present their research next month at the American Society of Criminology Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.
