Treasury Department Recognized as Grand Finalist for Best Practice
The university's cash/investment management team within the Division of Financial Affairs was recently recognized as a grand finalist for best practice by the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO) at the organization's annual meeting April 13-15 in Miami.
The team — which is composed of Tonya Williams, Rick Carter and Elizabeth Lisenbee — received the honor for their role in developing a policy for managing liquidity and working capital.
The Best Practices Program showcases the best of college and university business officers' efforts in creating better, more efficient and customer-friendly business practices.
"I'm proud of the work Tonya and her team continually put in to enhance and improve our operations while driving value creation around the cost of higher education," said Susan Slinkard, assistant vice chancellor and treasurer. "This project led to the university's first-ever liquidity management policy, which is critical for an organization of our size and complexity. We partnered with PFM, LLC to complete this important work — creating a framework for how we think about working capital management."
About SACUBO: SACUBO was founded to inform higher education institutions in the southern region of the United States about issues affecting higher education. SACUBO's mission is to contribute to superior higher education financial and administrative services by providing relevant professional development, thought leadership, and issue advocacy.
