Maple Will Have Traffic Detour

A utility construction project on the University of Arkansas campus will require the closure of a section of Maple Street between Oakland Avenue and Storer Avenue from June 4-8.

Detour signs will be posted to help motorists in the area.

The application paperwork for the closure was completed by the city of Fayetteville on May 25 and was provided to the university.

According to the application, drivers may use Douglas Street to avoid the construction area.

Douglas is to the north of Maple, and can be accessed from Maple by using Garland Avenue, Oakland Avenue, or Leverett Avenue.

The application stated that the closure will be in effect from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

The plan for the closure also specified an alternate walkway to help pedestrians cross Maple in that area.
