Another Outstanding Fundraising Year
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2008 fiscal year ending June 30 marked the end of another outstanding fundraising year for the University of Arkansas. The campus recorded $101,653,044 in private gift support.
“Once again, the university community has worked together to secure private gift support that is so important to the University of Arkansas,” said Chancellor G. David Gearhart. “Our benefactors’ continued support of our students, faculty and programs showcases a wide-reaching belief in the university’s commitment to excellence.”
The $101.6 million total includes outright gifts of cash, gifts-in-kind, planned gifts and new pledges received during the fiscal period from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.
Every gift from alumni, corporations, foundations and friends has a strong impact on the future of our institution, and for that, I am grateful,” said Gearhart. “I also appreciate the hard work of our deans and faculty who are true partners in securing philanthropy for the campus, as well as to the Razorback Foundation. This level of success is achieved only through the combined efforts of every member of the University of Arkansas family.”
“The generosity of our benefactors continues to be amazing,” said Brad Choate, vice chancellor for university advancement. “The University of Arkansas is much stronger and our students and faculty have significantly benefited as a result of Arkansas’ charitable givers.”
Of the $101.6 million raised for academic and athletic programs in 2007-08, 32 percent came from individual alumni and friends, 38 percent came from corporations, 17 percent came from foundations and 13 percent came from other organizations.
