The U of A will celebrate Panhellenic Bid Day at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the historic Chi Omega Greek Theatre. The highly anticipated event will also be livestreamed via the U of A Greek Life Facebook page, allowing friends and family from near and far to join in the celebration.

“We are looking forward to welcoming new members into our Greek Life community,” said Parice S. Bowser, assistant vice chancellor for Greek Life and associate dean of students. “It’s truly special that we can share this moment with families who cannot attend in person through our live Facebook broadcast.”

Bid Day marks the culmination of a week-long recruitment process in which more than 2,200 women participated this year. This is the second largest sorority recruitment in university history.  Potential new members will gather in the theatre Saturday morning, where they will receive invitations—known as bids—to join one of the university’s 12 nationally recognized Panhellenic chapters.

“Bid Day is truly the best day of the year,” said Morgan Brown, Panhellenic president. “For many of these women, this is the moment they find their home away from home. They’re joining communities that will support and encourage them throughout their college journey."

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to join the celebrations on Maple Street and in front of chapter houses. Please note that only active new members will be permitted inside the sorority houses.

With high temperatures and humidity expected, Greek Life staff encourage all attendees to dress appropriately for the weather and to stay hydrated throughout the event.

“This year’s Bid Day is shaping up to be one of the best yet,” Bowser said. “We are incredibly proud of our 12 award-winning chapters and the strong legacy of Greek Life here at the University of Arkansas.”
