The AUAI in Education Explorer Badge was awarded to faculty who completed an extensive teaching with artificial intelligence course.

During the 2023-24 academic year, U of A faculty were able to participate in Teaching with AI in the SEC.

The Southeastern Conference, in partnership with Auburn University's Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, provided SEC faculty with resources for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching methods. At the U of A, this program was co-sponsored by the Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center and the Global Campus.

The program was uniquely tailored to a cohort of faculty members and professional staff on the 14 SEC campuses. The course involved eight online modules and took approximately 25 hours to complete, including writing materials to be used in AI and reflections based on classroom observances.

"Utilizing AI as an educational tool and resource is imperative," said LeNá Powe McDonald, associate commissioner for academic relations at the SEC. "Partnering with Auburn University on this course is a transformative step that will help to empower faculty throughout our conference footprint with innovative knowledge to strengthen student engagement and learning."
