The U of A Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation (HHPR) will host its second annual HHPR Innovation Showcase on Friday, April 10, 2026, highlighting the research and academic work of undergraduate and graduate students across the department.
The student-led event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third floor of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) building and is free and open to the public. Opening remarks will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by oral and poster presentations throughout the day.
Designed to mirror a professional conference, the showcase gives students an opportunity to present their work, practice professional presentation skills and gain experience before presenting at national or international events. Students from disciplines including exercise science, public health and athletic training will present research from a range of research studies, labs and projects.
The event aims to create a collaborative learning environment where students, faculty and community members can engage with innovative ideas and emerging research in health and human performance. Organizers hope the event will strengthen connections within the department by allowing students to get to know their classmates and faculty mentors in a new context while learning about the diverse projects taking place across HHPR programs.
The day will conclude with student awards at 2:30 p.m., recognizing outstanding presentations from both undergraduate and graduate students in each department. Organizers encourage students, faculty and community members to attend, network and learn more about the work HHPR students are doing in research and practice.
