IT Services recently announced Lance Turner as the director of the project management office. In his new role, Turner will be responsible for leading project managers to collaborate with other departments on campus, positioning the university to meet federal audit and compliance standards, and improving campus information infrastructure.

"Lance has demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and management skills in his position as a project manager," said Selena Hriz, associate chief information officer of service management. "He has been a great asset to our team, and I am thrilled to have him take on this new position. I am confident he will lead the project management office to great heights and continue to elevate its services to campus departments."

Turner joined the U of A in November of 2021 as a project manager for IT Services. He previously worked for J.B. Hunt as an engineering and technology manager. He also held various positions at Walmart, from programmer to staff software engineer, during his 30 years with the company.

"I am honored to be selected for this role and look forward to building upon the foundation that my predecessor has put in place," Turner said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to further grow and mature the PMO."'

Turner received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems from Columbia College. He is also a certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
