Chryss Crotser Retires; Reception on Friday, Feb. 24

Crotser's retirement celebration will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in ADSB 240.

After 22 years of service at the U of A, Chryss Crotser, manager of service management for IT Services, retired Jan. 31.

"It has been my pleasure to work with Chryss over the past three years. His contributions to the university span two decades where he has been instrumental in efforts including re-envisioning our general access labs, as well as creating the physical design and shaping services we offer in the Student Technology Center," Steve Krogull, chief information officer, said. "Most recently, Chryss manages our service management team, promoting IT Service Management to streamline workflow and processes around the provisioning and management of IT services on campus. I would like to thank Chryss for his many years of dedicated service to the university, and I wish him all the best in his retirement."

Crotser started at the university in February 2001 as a computer lab operator, working in various general access computer labs (GACLs) until moving to the IT Help Desk in 2002.

While supporting technology in the GACLs, Crotser worked as the system administrator for many of the key services, including Sassafras License Management, print management and the reservation system for equipment checkouts. When IT Services purchased an IT Service Management (ITSM) solution in 2017, Crotser began managing the ITSM environment and sharing service management principles.

"In the past seven years, Chryss has been the primary administrator of a system that has enabled the fulfillment and support of over 300,000 service requests and incidents," Chuck Mitchell, service management specialist, said. "He has developed process and tracking for groups across campus, from finance and project management to math tutoring. His skills and dedication to serving the campus will be missed."

"Feeling like I was a valued part of a team that enables students to achieve their education goals has driven me throughout my career at the University of Arkansas," Crotser said.

Crotser's retirement celebration will be 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in ADSB 240. Come thank Crotser for his years of service and his dedication to improving the university.
