The Grief & Loss Support Time group will be held from 3-4 p.m. via Zoom every Monday starting Jan. 23.

Have you suffered the loss of a loved one? Are you dealing with a change in life situation, or are you processing the loss of a close relationship? Do you wish you had people in your life to talk to about your experiences with grief?

Learning how grief affects you, and some of the proven coping skills on how to more comprehensively accept a loss, isn't an easy task. Fortunately, Pat Walker Health Center's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offer a weekly grief and loss support time group available to students, faculty and staff.

"The Grief and Loss Support Time group is focused on relating to others' experiences, supporting each other, normalizing grief, discussing ways of coping and just processing loss in general," says Jack Rindahl, Grief & Loss Support Time group facilitator and CAPS mental health clinician. "Anyone can come for any kind of loss. Whether they are processing a breakup, job loss or the passing of someone close to them, all are welcome to sign up to attend."

Students, faculty and staff who've suffered the loss of a loved one, a change in life situation, loss related to COVID-19, loss of a close relationship or other difficult loss are invited to attend these sessions, where they will:

  • Learn about the grief process.

  • Relate to others who are also dealing with grief.

  • Work on expressing and accepting emotions around grief.

  • Address issues around coping with grief.

The group will be held from 3-4 p.m. via Zoom every Monday starting Jan. 23. To attend this group, please sign up here. It is not necessary for you to be a CAPS client, to have attended an initial consultation or to have a referral to attend. Registration to attend is required.
