Dean of Students Holds Regular Virtual Drop-In Hours Starting Today at 3 p.m.
The Dean of Students office in the Division of Student Affairs will offer virtual, face-to-face, drop-in office hours to help our community and answer questions about the university and the services the division offers through various departments and programs such as the Food Pantry, UA Cares, and the Center for Educational Access.
The virtual meetings will take place from 3-4 p.m. Monday through Friday with staff in the Dean of Students office. Monica Holland, assistant vice chancellor for Student Life and associate dean of students, is one of those staff members. Holland said she wants these sessions to be helpful and connect people to the right resources, but also informative to the staff about what students and families are experiencing.
"We hope to understand what students are going through right now. This will help us be prepared for fall 2020 and better anticipate student needs," Holland said. "While we plan to return to in person office hours as soon as it is responsible to do so, we think that this might help everyone until that time."
Other topics that could potentially be discussed are recent changes to the grading policy, plans for orientation, and tentative plans for the future.
"We may not have all the answers, but if we don't know, we can help you get in touch with the right person," Holland said. "We hope to offer you friendly faces and personal connections that we have all missed since the University switched to remote operations."
The first meeting will take place at 3 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 26, and then occur each weekday from 3-4 p.m. through July 31. These meetings will happen on the Microsoft Teams platform, but you do not need an account to participate. To join the meeting you will need to either follow this hyperlink on a computer with a standard web browser or call on a mobile device.
