The University of Arkansas had an exciting year for technology with innovations in virtual computer labs, collaborations to expand access to software, and new services like Box, just to name a few.

With everything happening, you are bound to have missed a few of these, so it's worth looking back on IT Service's top technology innovations from fall semester (in no particular order).

  • Box Arrived on Campus!
Box, a collaboration and cloud storage service, allows students, faculty and staff to work together on campus and around the world. Highlights include unlimited cloud storage, version tracking and the ability to assign tasks with deadlines. Users log into box.uark.edu with their UARK account. A get started video is available to review features.

  • Students Support Classroom Technology
Our students have always been among the best and the brightest, but that's being demonstrated in a whole new way as they are now supporting classroom technology within the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Chancellor Joe Steinmetz praised the program, calling it "a success story in the making by creating good on-campus jobs for students while supporting faculty."

  • Remote Lab Pilot Kicked Off
A new pilot program called Remote Lab allows students, faculty and staff to access campus computer labs from any location and on any device, including smartphones and tablets! Interested in giving it a try? Request to join the pilot!

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Available to All
Unleash your full creativity with Adobe Creative Cloud. Students can purchase a one-year subscription for only $60, while faculty and staff have access at no individual cost thanks to a new cross campus budget collaboration.

  • Computer Labs Go Virtual
Four computer labs were rebranded during the 2017 spring break as Tech Spots and converted to an innovative technology called virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). Each computer lab workstation is linked to a centralized server, delivering a better user experience and a more efficient use of resources.
