Apply for Student Leadership Position With University Programs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University Programs is now accepting applications for Daytime Chair and Concerts Chair. Applications are available at osa.uark.edu and are due at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in the Office of Student Activities (A665) of the University of Arkansas Union. Interviews will be conducted Dec. 1-5.

University Programs is a committee-based student organization responsible for planning over 100 free events annually for U of A students. There are eight different committees including Special Events, Digital Media, Daytime, Concerts, Art Gallery, Comedy, Coffeehouse and Cultures and Concepts. Volunteer committee members, committee chairs, and executive officers collaborate to present innovative events to students each year. The Daytime Committee is responsible for planning events throughout the school year for students. The events range from carnivals to informational sessions. The committee hosts these events on all parts of campus and is in charge of all aspects of the events including food, entertainment, and crafts. The committee usually does about one event per month that includes all occasions. The most recent Daytime Committee event was the Fall Festival. Click here to see pictures.

The UP Concerts Committee is responsible for hosting free concerts for students. The committee puts on several events throughout the year. Among artists who have performed those shows are Spoon, Mae, Guster, Eric Church, Rooney, and Shwayze. The Concerts Committee is responsible for all aspects of the show, including selection of the artists, advertising, and production.
