RESPECT — Rape Education Services by Peers Encouraging Conscious Thought — has been recognized as the top program in the nation for research and evaluation by the National BACCHUS General Assembly.
BACCHUS — Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students — is a peer education network, comprised of more than 8,000 student leaders and advisers, active on more than 330 college campuses nation wide. The recipient of the Outstanding Research and Evaluation Award is selected based on their use research in peer education programming and their contributions to the field of peer education.
RESPECT has utilized peer education to maximize their message and transform the college community’s norms and attitudes towards rape since founding 2000. Over the years, BACCHUS has recognized RESPECT for their enthusiasm, participation, evaluation methods, and adviser contributions to the success of the program.
“The RESPECT program takes great pride in being a leader among peer education programs as recognized nationally and regionally over the past several years with various awards. The award for Outstanding Research and Evaluation of a Peer Education program is yet another example of the great effort put forward by RESPECT to serve its community and evaluate program effectiveness while providing rape prevention education for the campus,” said Mary Wynadt-Hiebert, RESPECT adviser and director of STAR Central office.
