Register Now and Avoid Late Fees

Students are encouraged to complete all enrollment activity by published deadlines both to ensure academic success and to avoid paying additional fees.

Beginning this fall, students will incur a late fee for adding a class after the registration deadline — the deadline for adding a full semester course in the fall is the fifth day of class, Friday, Aug. 30. After this date, students who get administrative approval to add a class will pay a $25 late fee. For full semester classes added after the 11th day of class, Wednesday, Sept. 11, the late fee will be $50.

Enrollment in any class after the deadline must be done administratively with the approval of the department offering the course and the appropriate dean's office. Late registrations are generally reserved for exceptional circumstances. Students who feel their situation warrants late registration should visit the department offering the class or the dean's office of the department's college.

"This is not a fee we want to collect from students," said Suzanne McCray, vice provost for enrollment management and dean of admissions. "We want all students to register within the deadline and avoid this late charge. Enrolling on time helps the departments understand what resources they will need, and it increases a student's ability to succeed in the class."

No fee will be applied for late registrations due to a documented administrative error. For more information on the registration late fee, including a breakdown of the fees for upcoming sessions and terms, please visit the "Registration Late Fees" section on the registrar's office website.
