University Will Conduct Additional Meetings On Campus Transportation Plan

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - As part of the continuing process of preparing a Campus Transportation Plan for the University of Arkansas, Rich Klatt of Walker Parking, Inc. will be on campus on Monday, October 2, 2000 to take public input.

Klatt will be available for one-on-one dialogue with members of the Parking and Transit Committee, the Transportation Plan Committee, as well as interested students, faculty, staff, and the public from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., October 2, in the physical plant conference room. That evening, a public forum will take place form 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Old Main’s Giffels Auditorium.

Klatt will attend a meeting of the Campus Design Review Board on October 3 to hear about plans for projects that could affect pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular circulation on campus. At this meeting, he will report to the Design Review Board on the progress of the Transportation Plan. He will discuss:

-Existing conditions -- including the results of the level of service calculations and daily traffic volumes, which include the through-traffic estimate.

- Future traffic scenarios -- including discussions on roadway geometrics and grades. Typically, grades are not a concern on college campuses, the University of Arkansas campus is an exception.
