UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS NAMES EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO CHANCELLOR

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Gail B. Moore, director of special events at the University of Arkansas, has been named executive assistant to the chancellor, effective August 15.

"In my recent position as director of special events, my associates reinforced my commitment to the University of Arkansas, its values and traditions," Moore said. "The excitement surrounding John White's vision for this institution heightened my interest in playing a supporting role in his continued success. I look forward to joining the office of the chancellor."

As the executive assistant, she will manage the chancellor's office, execute special assignments for the chancellor and communicate with, and request the assistance of, members of the Chancellor's Cabinet and others within the university.

"I am honored and delighted to have Gail Moore on our staff. Gail has shown her leadership and dedication to the University through her tenure as director of special events," UA Chancellor John A. White said. "She has worked with all departments and colleagues in a professional manner and has adhered to the highest standards of quality in performing tasks and providing service to others. Prior to coming to the University, she served as executive assistant to the president of Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. We look forward to her using her expertise and experience to assist us in strengthening the University."

Moore will also serve as a liaison to the University of Arkansas System Office in Little Rock. She will perform casework, represent the chancellor in meetings and functions, and inform the chancellor of potential areas of concern and opportunities for improvement throughout the University.

Moore has served as the director of special events since July 2000 and has eight years of experience in executive college administration with an extensive background in events planning, scheduling and coordination.

"We will miss Gail tremendously in the Division of University Advancement, but are delighted to see her step into her new role with Chancellor White," said G. David Gearhart, vice chancellor for University Advancement, to whom Moore reported. "Gail has great sensitivity and skills in working in a University environment and she will serve Chancellor White extraordinarily well."

In addition to her tenure as executive assistant to the president at Trinity College, she also served on the presidential search committee as a central coordinator where she reported to the chair of Trinity College Board of Trustees.

Moore is a native Arkansan and an alumna of the University of Arkansas, Class of 1962.
