UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS EMPLOYEES TO BE HONORED

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas will honor employees at the Employee Service Awards 2002 banquet, Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Alltel Ballroom in the Arkansas Union. A social hour will be hosted by the Multicultural Center in Suite 404 from 5 to 6 pm. The annual celebration recognizes service award recipients with 10 or more years of service as well as the Staff Senate Scholarship recipient, Employees of the Quarter and Employees of the Year.

Members of the Staff Senate and the award recipients' supervisors and guests will join Chancellor John A. White and other University administrators in thanking these valued employees for their contributions, their accomplishments and their years of service.

The seven service awards to be given at this year's banquet are -- 10 Years of Service, 15 Years of Service, 20 Years of Service, 25 Years of Service, 30 Years of Service, 35 Years of Service, and 45 Years of Service. Chancellor White will present service award recipients with a certificate and their pre-selected gift of appreciation.  

This year's Staff Senate scholarship recipient is Patricia M. Edwards, administrative secretary, marketing and transportation, Sam M. Walton College of Business. Patricia was awarded $500 to be used for educational expenses.  

The Employees of the Quarter will each receive a personalized University of Arkansas key ring and two complimentary passes to a production at the University Theater.  

The Employees of the Quarter for fiscal year July 1, 2001 - June 30, 2002 are:   

First Quarter: Heather Schneller, assistant director, residential education, University Housing, Student Affairs; Patricia M. Edwards, administrative secretary, marketing and transportation, Sam M. Walton College of Business, Academic Affairs; Jalene Ramsey, administrative assistant I, biological and agricultural engineering, College of Engineering, Academic Affairs; and Barbara Pereira, maintenance worker II, Physical Plant, Finance and Administration

Second Quarter:    Dustin Korzaan, computer support specialist II, Human Resources, Finance and Administration; Denise Smith, secretary II, Air Force ROTC, Academic Affairs; Pamela Oxford, associate for administration, Director Experiment Station, vice president of agriculture, Academic Affairs; and Charles B. Wilson, custodial worker II, Physical Plant, Finance and Administration.

Third Quarter: Robert Godfrey, DP network technician I, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Science, Academic Affairs; Mary Saldivar, administrative office supervisor, history, Fulbright College of Arts and Science, Academic Affairs; Linda Penny, accounting technician II, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Science, Academic Affairs; and Simone Smith, custodial worker II, University Housing, Student Services.

Fourth Quarter: Adam Motherwell, assistant dean, Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, Academic Affairs; Wayne Summerall, mail officer, Mailing Services, Finance and Administration; and Sgt. Greg Foster, public safety supervisor, University Police, Finance and Administration.

Each Employee of the Quarter is also nominated for Employee of the Year .  The 2002 Employees of the Year are Dustin Korzaan,  Wayne Summerall, Sgt. Greg Foster  and Simone Smith. Each Employee of the Year will receive a plaque and a monetary award.
