Tull Named New Associate Dean for Campus Life

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas and the Office of Student Affairs are pleased to announce that Ashley Tull has been named the new associate dean for campus life, effective Oct. 10. His salary will be $60,000.

Tull currently serves as director of education and assessment for the Oglesby Union at Florida State University. His duties include initiatives involving staff training and development; strategic planning; research and assessment; and advancement and fund raising. Additionally, Tull serves as the associate director for the Institute on College Student Values at Florida State.

“Ashley Tull has developed an impressive list of credentials that will serve him well in his new role as associate dean,” said Johnetta Cross Brazzell, vice chancellor for Student Affairs. “I am so pleased that he and his family are joining the University of Arkansas family, and I look forward to his contributions on the continued improvements to the campus experience that can benefit all of our students.”

Tull’s responsibilities as associate dean for campus life include the supervision of staff in developing and managing group programs that contribute to student learning on campus. He will supervise the staff in supporting events and programs within the Arkansas Union and the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership. The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership includes: the Associated Student Government, University Programs, registered student organizations, Friday Night Live programming and opportunities for leadership and volunteerism.

“I look forward to working with the Arkansas Union and Office of Student Involvement and Leadership at the University of Arkansas as well as colleagues in the Dean of Students Office,” Tull said. “My family and I have always had the university and Fayetteville on our list of places to live and work. This is a homecoming of sorts for us.”

Prior to joining the staff at Florida State, Tull has held numerous positions in student affairs and higher education throughout his career. Those positions include director of student life at Georgia Highlands College (formerly Floyd College); director of student activities for the Georgia Academy of Mathematics, Engineering and Science at Middle Georgia College; and southeastern regional director for Golden Key National Honor Society.

Tull earned a bachelor of arts in social and rehabilitation services and a master’s degree in college student personnel services from the University of Southern Mississippi. He earned a graduate certificate in human resource development and a doctorate in higher education administration from Florida State University.

Professionally, Tull is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), where he currently serves as the national chair for the New Professionals and Graduate Students Knowledge Community and as a column editor for NASPA’s Net Results publication.

Tull and his wife Michele Howell-Tull, a native of Fayetteville, have a son and are expecting a daughter this fall.
