FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The UA College of Education and Health Professions will assemble leading educators from around the state in an Education Summit to be held Wednesday, November 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Continuing Education Auditorium. A reception will follow the summit, and the public is welcome at both the summit and the reception.

Titled "Priorities and Price Tags: Arkansas Public Education K-12," the summit will bring together leaders in education in Arkansas, including the superintendents of the largest school districts, to examine priorities and resources to consider ways to sustain the state’s commitment to improving public education.

The Education Summit panel will be chaired by Senator David Malone, and the summary discussion will be lead by Les Carnine, former superintendent of Little Rock schools, who is now the Executive in Residence for the College of Education and Health Professions.

Panelists include Frank Anthony, superintendent, Pine Bluff Public Schools; Arkansas Senator John Brown; Jeannie Cole, state PTA president; Reed Greenwood, dean of the college; Kathy Lease, superintendent, Texarkana Public Schools; Uvalde Lindsey of the Northwest Arkansas Council; David Matthews, attorney; and Ray Simon, director, Arkansas Department of Education.

The Education Summit will be held during a two-day conference of the superintendents of the state’s largest school districts, known as the 5A districts.
