From CPR training to fire extinguisher demonstrations, Lab Safety Week offers hands-on safety learning opportunities between Feb. 9-13.
The U of A's College of Engineering will host the event as part of a national initiative by the Campus Safety, Health and Environmental Association (CSHEMA) to strengthen laboratory health and safety in teaching and research environments.
Held in partnership with the Environmental Health and Safety (ENHS) team, Lab Safety Week features a series of training sessions, demonstrations and hands-on activities that promote safe practices and build a strong culture of safety across engineering labs.
Events will be held at Bell Engineering and the Engineering Research Center located at the Arkansas Research and Technology Park. It is open to all students, faculty and staff, with several sessions tailored specifically for the College of Engineering community.
Sessions will explore hands-on safety topics such as CPR, fire extinguisher use, personal protective equipment, gas cylinder safety, emergency planning and handling hazardous materials.
The week will also launch the new College of Engineering Safety Champion initiative, which encourages engagement in safety-focused activities across labs and facilities.
All students, faculty and staff are invited to join Lab Safety Week events and explore campus safety resources.
