Staff Recognition Reception Draws Record Attendance, Honors More Than 300 Employees

Staff members recognized for their dedicated service to the university called the Hogs on Thursday.
The U of A hosted its annual Staff Recognition Reception on Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Arkansas Union Ballroom, celebrating the contributions of more than 300 staff.
The event, formerly known as the Staff Appreciation Banquet, was renamed to better reflect its format and purpose. Held during traditional work hours for the first time, the event featured a pre-program reception, light refreshments and appetizers and a formal recognition ceremony for staff achievements and service milestones with the chancellor.
The event is an opportunity to recognize the:
- Employees of the Year
- Outstanding Team of the Year
- Length of service milestones
- Recent staff graduates from the university
- Staff Scholarship recipients
- Employees of the Quarter
"This event is one of the most meaningful things we do in Human Resources," said Amy Ochoa, associate vice chancellor for human resources. "It's a chance to pause and celebrate the people who make this university work. The ones who show up every day, support our students and help move the U of A forward. We're proud to keep evolving this event to reflect the value we place on our staff."
Of note, three employees were honored for reaching 45 years of service to the U of A this year:
- Bryan Stover, facilities operations manager II, facilities management
- Chuck Dwyer, data center manager, information technology services
- Randall Carrell, senior software support analyst, information technology services
The Staff Recognition Reception is part of the university's ongoing efforts to enhance its reputation as an employer of choice. By refining the event experience and expanding recognition opportunities, Human Resources continues to invest in the people who make the university a great place to work.
