SEC Academic Leadership Development Program Fellows and Alumni enjoy dinner on April 1.

The U of A recently hosted the SEC Academic Leadership Development Program with fellows and alumni for a dinner, presentation and campus tour April 1-2. The SEC ALDP alumni and fellows from the U of A and other SEC institutions were invited.

On the evening of April 1, attendees enjoyed a seated dinner followed by a performance by the U of A Inspirational Chorale, directed by Lauren N. Clare, in the newly renovated David W. Mullins Library. Remarks were made by Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Anna Zajicek, Dean of University Libraries Jason Battles, Provost Terry Martin and Chancellor Charles Robinson.

In addition, Robinson presented Martin with an award from the U of A in recognition of his commitment and outstanding support of the SEC Academic Leadership Development Program.

The next day began with a presentation focused on the U of A's Provost Fellows Program and the work being conducted by this year's Provost Fellows and U of A faculty members Ana Bridges, Fiona Goggin and Becca Muenich. After the presentations, attendees went on a walking tour of campus and toured the School of Art and the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R) before returning to their home institutions.

"We are so glad we could host this dinner and show our guests from across the SEC our beautiful campus," Zajicek said. "We weren't able to host our SEC colleagues on our campus in February due to weather, but we're grateful we had the opportunity earlier this month to connect, network and continue important conversations centered on leadership with our counterparts across the SEC."

The SEC ALDP provides professional growth and leadership opportunities to academic administrators across the Southeastern Conference. The SEC ALDP includes workshops for its fellows at two different SEC institutions each year, a university-level development program designed by each institution for its fellows and a competitive alumni fellowship that provides former fellows with additional development opportunities. One of the SEC ALDP workshops was hosted by the U of A earlier this year in February.
