Students in English Course on Content Strategy Interview YouTuber and Content Event Coordinator
Students in Adam R. Pope's course, ENGL 49003 Content Strategy and Online Writing, interviewed content creator and YouTube host Henning Pauly in class on Wednesday as part of their continued work to understand the work and strategy of online content creators and their relationships with brands and each other.
Pauly, a long-time creator on YouTube and the organizer of the annual 42 Gear Street content creation event, spoke with students about building relationships with brands, how to frame the success of a given channel, monetization, as well as building concrete processes for success versus chasing algorithms.
"Having creators like Henning in the class," Pope explained, "allows students to get a better idea of what the relationship side of the content creation workflow looks like. Henning is a wonderful communicator and has done a lot of work building community in his niche of content creation, so his insights are invaluable to students looking to understand how their organization might approach a creator or how they might work with a creator as part of their production team."
ENGL 49003 is part of the Rhetoric and Writing Studies area of concentration in the Department of English as well as the minor in Rhetoric and Writing Studies.
