Professor Nobuyuki Sakai to Deliver Invited Lecture on Academia-Industry Collaboration Today
The Sensory Science Center at the U of A System Division of Agriculture will host Professor Nobuyuki Sakai for an invited lecture as part of the Distinguished Sensory Lecture Series. The lecture will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 26, in room D1/D2 of the Food Science Department Building, 2650 N. Young Ave.
Professor Sakai, a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Tohoku University, Japan, is widely recognized for his expertise in sensory science and umami research. He serves as the director of the Society for Research on Umami Taste and vice president of the Umami Information Center, actively promoting awareness of Japanese cuisine (Washoku) and the role of umami in food culture. Additionally, he contributes as an academic editor for several esteemed journals, including PLOS ONE, Foods, Nutrition, Frontiers in Nutrition, the Japanese Journal of Health Psychology and Tohoku Psychologica Folia.
His lecture, titled "Academia Meets Industry: Collaborative Sensory Studies of Foods in Japan," will explore the dynamic relationship between academic research and industry in the field of food sensory science.
This event provides a unique opportunity for scholars, students and industry professionals to gain insight into the evolving landscape of sensory studies and food innovation in Japan.
