Weekly DH Meet-Up: VR Club to Hear About Implementation of VR in Language Learning
On Thursday, April 6, Jhonatan Carmona Tangarife, a Master of Arts candidate in Spanish, and Michael Hall, a doctoral candidate in comparative literatures and cultural studies, will lead the Weekly Digital Humanities Meet-Up in a workshop that will run from 3:30-5 p.m. Carmona and Hall will demonstrate virtual reality can be incorporated in the language classroom with an interactive and engaging workshop in the World Languages & Digital Humanities Studio, J.B. Hunt Center, room 207.
This workshop will demonstrate how to integrate virtual reality into world language classrooms. The Virtual Reality (VR) Club for Language Learning was founded in fall 2022 by Hall and Carmona to investigate the efficacy of VR and digital pedagogy within the world language learning field. Carmona recently integrated this practice of using VR into his Intermediate I Spanish classes. The workshop will also showcase what VR Club has learned and accomplished through a series of workshops held in fall 2022 and what the future plans for VR club are.
This workshop is free and open to the U of A community with special attention to educators and language instructors.
