Open Enrollment 2023 for Employees Starts Today

The period of Benefits Open Enrollment starts today, Oct. 31, and runs through Monday, Nov. 14. No late enrollments will be accepted. All changes must be completed by Nov. 14.

To view your current benefits elections: Log onto Workday, select "Benefits" and then select "View Benefit Elections."

Summary of Changes Effective Jan. 1, 2023

Tobacco Attestation and Wellness Incentives

  • To qualify for wellness incentives during the 2023 calendar year, you must meet the following requirements:
    1. Complete the Tobacco Attestation and Notice through Workday during open enrollment.
      • The attestation must be completed annually. Employees who are non-tobacco users must also complete the attestation to avoid the $50 monthly surcharge ($66.67 per month for 9-month employees).
    2. For the 2023 year, the Wellness Exam requirement that was due by Oct. 31, has been waived.

Health  Dental Plan Changes

  • Pharmacy maximum out-of-pocket increases to $1,800 (individual) and $3,600 (family) for classic and premier plans.
  • Infertility benefit increases to $30,000 ($20,000 for medical/$10,000 for pharmacy).
  • Health Savings Plan deductible increase to $3,000 (individual) and $6,000 (family).
  • Diabetic coverage changes:
    • Insulin pump — medical only
    • Continuous glucose monitor — pharmacy only
    • Diabetic supplies — either medical or pharmacy.
  • Dental — no more automatic enrollment when dependents turn 2 years old.

Critical Illness Enhancement (New Plans – Optional Enrollment)

  • Accident Protection Plan — Pays lump-sum cash benefit directly to you after a covered injury.
  • Hospital Indemnity Protection — Offers financial compensation if you or covered dependent are admitted into the hospital or ICU.

FSA & HSA Changes

  • Annual enrollment required for FSA. If you are currently enrolled in an FSA, you must re-enroll your options.
  • FSA contribution limit for individuals will increase to $2,850* tax-exempt per person.
  • Medical FSA carryover limit increases to $570.
  • Maximum contributions to a dependent care FSA will be $5,000*
    • *FSA limits are set by the IRS and are subject to change per their guidelines.
  • HSA employer contributions increasing to $650 (individual) and $1,200 (family).
  • HSA contribution limits have increased to:
    • Individual: $3,850; Family: $7,750.
    • $1,000 additional contribution for participants 55 and older (includes university contributions).
  • Remember, you can only enroll in an HSA if you enroll in the Health Savings Plan.

Life Insurance

  • Evidence of Insurability required on increase requests, no open enrollment for optional life or dependent life.
  • Beneficiaries are required during open enrollment.

Legal Shield

  • Legal Shield has new plans and new rates. You must re-enroll.
  • If you are a direct bill customer and want to switch to payroll deduction, you must enroll through Workday and contact Legal Shield to cancel direct bill.

Catastrophic Leave Drive

  • Human Resources is conducting a donation drive for the Catastrophic Leave Bank during open enrollment.
  • Donations must be made in 1-hour increments, and there is no limit on the number of hours that may be donated; however, a donation cannot be accepted if it reduces the donor's combined sick and annual leave balance to less than 80 hours.
  • To donate, forms are available at hr.uark.edu under the Benefits tab on the Catastrophic Leave page.
  • Completed donation forms should be submitted to Human Resources Leave at hrleave@uark.edu by Nov. 18.

How do I enroll or make changes?

Enrollments and changes to Flexible Spending and Health, Dental and Vision Insurance must be done online through Workday.

  • Log into Workday.
  • If you will be covering dependents, please refer to the Employee Self-Service: Managing Benefits quick reference guide available through Microsoft Apps under Workday Training.
  • Submit Dependent Documentation & Dependent Verification Forms through Workday as an attachment
  • Open enrollment can be accessed from your Workday Inbox beginning today, Oct. 31.
