Non-tenure track faculty can join the Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center for best practices in developing research using the scholarship of teaching and learning. This session will share information that all who are classified as non-tenure track faculty members can use to develop the scholarship portion of their teaching.

The goals of the session are to understand why it is important to create research from your teaching, learn examples of what other successful colleagues do, develop potential ideas on how you can create research in your courses and learn about opportunities to present at the University of Arkansas Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Symposium in April. Most non-tenure track faculty conduct significant teaching and developing research around this workload can lead to more recognition and promotions.

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL):  Creating Research from Teaching

Thursday, Oct. 20: Presentation from 12:30-1:45 p.m. or

Friday, Oct. 21:  Presentation from noon to 1:15 p.m.

Note:  Lunch is available 20 minutes before the event begins for in-person attendees

Location:  CORD 349

The presenter for this session is:

Jacquelyn Mosley of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Mosley is a full professor who has earned a national reputation for her work with diversity and the intercultural development inventory. She has been awarded the Jack G. Justus Award for Teaching Excellence in the Bumpers College, the Cognella Innovation in Teaching Award for Family Science and is a member of the U of A Teaching Academy. Mosley has published over 10 papers in the last two years based on SoTL.

The Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center provides two lunch programs for non-tenure track faculty each academic year. Each program is available for all non-tenure track faculty (teaching, clinical and research professors, professors of practice, instructors, lecturers and adjunct professors). This program will count with live attendance (either in person or on Zoom) for the New Faculty Commendation or the Not-So-New Faculty Commendation.

RSVP for in-person attendance.

This event will also be offered on Zoom.
