Scholarship Application Period Open in Bumpers College, Help Desk Session Wednesday

The help desk session is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday in AFLS Building E-202 with Becky Alverson, Bumpers College project specialist for scholarships, development and external relations.

The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences continues its student experience opportunities for current students with a scholarship help desk this week.

The Bumpers College Student Services Office is hosting a help desk session with drop-in office hours from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The session will be in AFLS Building E-202.

The help desk is to assist current Bumpers College students in connecting, engaging with and discovering available funding opportunities. The drop-in hours are open to all majors across the college, including students in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.

The drop-in visits allow students to ask one-on-one questions regarding the application process, to debunk any misinformation about scholarship myths and get answers to their questions in real time.

Common questions students have include: What is an academic resume? What are tips to add/avoid for a quality submission? What's the FAFSA? How do you apply for departmental scholarships? What is the minimum GPA?

The scholarship application deadline for 2022-23 is Feb. 15. Students are encouraged to review the scholarship page prior to the forum.

The sessions will be hosted by Becky Alversen, project specialist for scholarships, development and external relations.

Bumpers College offers more than $1 million in scholarship funding and more than 500 scholarships annually. More than 70 percent of students who complete the application process are offered at least one scholarship. The average amount of each scholarship offered is approximately $1,700. Students across the college who apply for scholarships are offered an average of $2,500 in total funding from Bumpers College.
