Professor Talks Ethics on Academy of Human Resource Development's New Podcast

Professor Claretha Hughes, who teaches in the U of A Human Resource and Workforce Development program, was recently interviewed on the Academy of Human Resource Development's new podcast.

Hughes joined guests K. Peter Kuchinke, Professor Emeritus at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Khalil M. Dirani, associate professor at Texas A&M University, to discuss ethics' role in human resources development. That includes common challenges professionals face in the field, how they can prepare for ethical issues and more.

Hughes teaches "Ethical and Legal Issues in Human Resource and Workforce Development" courses at both the master's and doctoral levels at the U of A. She also wrote Ethical and Legal Issues in Human Resource Development: Evolving Roles and Emerging Trends.

In the first part of the Human Resource Development Masterclass podcast episode, each faculty member chats one-to-one with host Darren Short. In the second half, they discuss their shared interest in ethics in human resources development together.

The episode is free and available for use in classes, assignments, studies and professional development. This and all other episodes are available from all major podcast services, including Apple Podcast, Spotify and Amazon. The podcast's first two seasons feature 50 scholars who work in human resources development. The podcast explores the fundamentals of the field and how those are changing in the 2020s workplace.

Hughes teaches courses in the College of Education and Health Professions in program and product evaluation, technology systems and resources, training and development strategies, career theory, and advanced research methodologies. Her research centers on valuing people and technology in the workplace. She has published numerous articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals, books and conferences and has written 13 books. She serves as a book proposal reviewer for SAGE, Emerald, IGI Global, Palgrave Macmillan and CyberTech Publishing. She is currently involved in a National Science Foundation Research in Formation of Engineers project as a co-PI.
