Student Success Center Delivers a Network of High-Impact Resources for All Students

With an anticipated record number of students taking to the university's classrooms this fall, the Student Success Center has expanded its resources and programming to ensure all students have access to the opportunities they may need to thrive on campus.

The center's team spent the spring and summer scaling up staffing and programming to meet the needs of a banner enrollment year. Services offered through the center are designed for students at all academic levels and in any program of study. The collective goal of all the center's programming is to help students maximize their academic success, enhance their feeling of belonging, and improve their overall well-being.

Coming out of a year when a significant number of both new and returning students learned remotely, the center is prepared to help students navigate the challenges of a shift back to in-person learning. Several offerings will also include remote scheduling options to provide flexibility for students who may need or want this option.

Featured services this fall include:

• Study Groups
  • Allow students to connect with classmates outside of class using Microsoft Teams. 
• MyMajors
  • A quick survey that shows students their top 10 compatible majors at the University of Arkansas. 
• Online Chat
  • Staff members are available to answer general questions and direct students to academic resources at the Student Success website.
• Success Tips
  • Students can sign up for weekly academic success tips that come to their phones and emails. Previous topics included tips for staying motivated, how to pay attention, making healthy choices, and self-care.
• In-Person and Online tutoring
  • Schedule an appointment, stop by in person, or instantaneously chat online with tutors.
• Peer Academic Coaching
  • Peer Coaches are here to help you develop your strategies for learning efficiently and effectively. While a tutor may work with you to master course content, an academic coach will help you become an expert learner. 
• Writing Studio
  • Individual writing support for undergraduate and graduate students as well as writing workshops faculty can request for their classes.

Our entire team is looking forward to helping every student take their learning to its highest level. With the help of 200 student leaders, we hope to advance a 'Students Helping Students' approach to student success while fulfilling our mission to develop engaged learners," said Trevor Francis, associate vice provost and director of student success.
