Bumpers College's Ag, Food Life Experience Series Part 4: Scholarships Forum
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences continues its "experience" series for current students with the third session offering both virtual and in-person options.
The Ag, Food, Life Experience Part 4: Scholarships Forum will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and Wednesday, Feb. 3. Students need to attend just one of the sessions. Registration is required.
The series features current students sharing their experiences in the college to help other students get more engaged and discover available opportunities. The meetings are open to any major across the college, including the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
This fourth discussion focuses on scholarships, what is available and the application process. The forum is an informal opportunity for students to get overview of the application process, debunk scholarship myths and get answers to questions in real time. Time is being set aside at the end for one-on-one discussions, if needed.
Common questions to be addressed include: What is an academic resume? What are tips to add/avoid for a quality submission? What's the FAFSA? How do you apply for departmental scholarships? What is the minimum GPA?
The application deadline for 2021-22 is Feb. 15. Students are encouraged to review the scholarship page prior to the forum.
The session will be moderated by Lucas Simmons, Bumpers College senior academic advisor and student experience coordinator, and Heather Parks, project specialist for scholarships and external relations.
The first session, on Oct. 20, focused on the more than 20 clubs and organizations sponsored by the college; the second, on Nov. 10, focused on internships and experiential learning; and the third, on Dec. 8, focused on prospective students.
Upcoming sessions will focus on scholarship funding, transfer students, honors programming and undergraduate research.
