Professionals Can Hone Management and Soft Skills With Six New Programs
ROGERS, Ark. – The Global Campus at the University of Arkansas will offer six new programs this fall to help professionals advance their management skills, deal with new laws, provide outstanding customer service, resolve conflicts, and interact with others. Professionals can register online for these programs to be offered at the Global Campus in Rogers, 3300 Market St., Suite 402, in the Pinnacle One Building.
Innovative Management Series – This series offers both new and experienced managers the opportunity to explore best practices and the practical ‘how to’ of multiple management areas and challenges. Courses can be taken alone, or in any combination, to address specific needs. Each course is taught by an expert instructor with years of experience in both management and training.
- Transitioning to Manager: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, $249. Instructor David Miller, president of Life Incorporated Enterprises, will explain the challenges facing new managers and offer practical advice on how to address them.
- Recruiting, Interviewing, Hiring and Onboarding: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, $249. An experienced HR professional will explore the importance of linking recruitment and hiring with organizational goals and culture, how to recruit and select new employees legally and effectively (even if you can't pay as much as some of your competitors) and how to design an onboarding program that promotes employee engagement and retention.
Concealed Carry, Safety, and Privacy in the Workplace, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, $149. Lt. Derek Wright of the Springdale Police Department and Jose Socorro of J.B. Hunt Transport Services will explain privacy in the workplace, the Arkansas concealed carry law, how to assess a work site and risk factors, and how to develop an emergency plan.
Delivering Outstanding Customer Service, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, $299. Ryan Stearle, vice president of sales for Infinity Product Group, will help professionals align customer service standards with company mission and goals, understand the difference between internal and external customers, and learn how to make customers feel important and appreciated.
Strategies for Dealing with Difficult People and Conflict Resolution, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, $299. Rick Teague, a principal with TransAmericas Human Resources LLC, will help professionals understand difficult people, know how to keep calm and respond effectively, learn to negotiate, and understand when to seek a third party for help.
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in the Workplace, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, $299. Instructor David Miller, president of Life Incorporated Enterprises, will offer an overview of common personality assessments, the tools that assessments can provide businesses, and ways to implement those tools in the workplace.
These six classes are part of the fall line-up of professional and workforce development courses showcased on the Global Campus website. The Global Campus can also provide customized training for organizations with specific needs. U of A faculty, staff and current students get a 10 percent discount on course fees.
