FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Volunteers with the 83rd annual University of Arkansas United Way campaign held a successful kickoff event Monday, Sept. 25 at the Arkansas Union Connections Lounge.

Now the real work begins.

“I can’t thank the committee members enough for everything they’ve done to get this campaign ready to roll,” said Jacque Linebarger, the campaign coordinator. “The kickoff itself took a lot of work by everyone involved but it is a good, fun way to get things started. I know everyone is ready to for the campaign to begin on Monday.”

United We Win

The U of A United Way campaign has a simple message this year: United We Win.

The campaign officially begins Monday, Oct. 2, with a goal of raising $160,000 by Oct. 27 for the United Way of Northwest Arkansas.

“No one person can do very much to help the 27,000 children who live in poverty in Northwest Arkansas,” said Stacy Leeds, campaign co-chair. “But united – with each one of us making our own contribution – we can make a difference. United we can help the programs and services that support these children. United we can help create a new future for them and their families.

“United We Win.”

U of A faculty and staff will all receive donation cards from the U of A United Way  by Oct. 2, and campaign website will be live to accept secure online donations from faculty and staff who fill out an online card.

“We have worked to make it safer and easier than ever to donate online – using any device -- from your mobile phone to your desktop,” said Chris McCoy, campaign co-chair. “We’ll also be telling the campus soon about some exciting new ways to contribute to this campaign. But however you participate – every contribution helps us win.”
