The annual Resident Satisfaction Survey helps University Housing measure how residents feel about their student housing experience.

A random sample of 3,000 student residents were invited to complete the survey during March. The deadline for completing the survey is Sunday, April 3.

The survey measures resident's opinions on a number of areas, including:

• Learning related to hall staff/student interactions
• Acquiring time management and life skills
• Satisfaction with the living accommodations, technology, security and dining

Housing offered prizes including gift cards and an iPad Mini to encourage participation among students. Each week a drawing took place to select a winner for each of the prizes.

Housing began gathering residents' input through the annual survey in 1993. It is administered through Educational Benchmarking, Inc. and based on standards upheld by Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education.

"Housing's success is built on responding to our residents' needs," Housing executive director Flo Johnson said. "This survey allows us to measure our efforts to create a residential experience that contributes to academic success for students."

Hall staff/student Interactions and security are strong indicators of resident satisfaction over the past decade. These factor both improved greatly over time, from below or at satisfactory in 2005, to far above satisfactory in 2015.
