U of A Launches Business Communications Certificate Program

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Working professionals can earn a Business Communications Certificate from the University of Arkansas Global Campus in person or online beginning March 30.

Sessions will take place from 7:45-9 a.m. CT on Wednesdays, through May 4. An accelerated one-day program will be offered in person only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 8.

Registration is available online. The cost of the course is $459, and a 10 percent discount is available for U of A faculty, staff and students, as well as members of the U of A Alumni Association, the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas and the Center for Retailing Excellence. Information Technology Research Institute Board member companies also receive the discount.

The business communications program is comprised of four core courses and one of two elective courses. Course topics include personal branding, verbal and written communication, presentation skills, visual communication, negotiation and influence (some courses cover multiple topics). Participants will have the option of taking an elective course on the topics of either sales or analytics.

The course will be taught by Ryan Stearle, an alumnus of the Sam M. Walton College of Business who is the national account sales manager and Walmart team leader for Allegro, a division of the Conair Corp. Stearle has previously worked in sales and management for Budweiser, Procter & Gamble and Alltel Wireless.

Credit for prior learning is available. Participants are given the opportunity to submit professional documents, projects, reports and presentations that they have created as part of their professional experiences, in lieu of assignments given by the instructor, or they may choose to complete a new assignment or project as given by the instructor.
