ROGERS, Ark. – The Northwest Arkansas Human Resources Association awarded its Member of the Year honor to Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs at the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Tavano, a certified senior professional in human resources, accepted the award Dec. 11 during a membership meeting of the association, also known as NOARK.

“The Global Campus is proud to have Judith Tavano leading our professional development programs,” said Javier Reyes, vice provost for distance education and head of the Global Campus. “Her expertise and innovation have been recognized by professionals in her field, and we congratulate her on her latest award from NOARK.”

NOARK awarded Tavano with the Rising Star award in 2002 and with the Pinnacle Award in 2011.

Cliff Sandsmark, NOARK president, said, “Over the years I have known (Tavano) to be at the forefront of many initiatives for the profession – from advocating and managing HR certification programs, research on HR topics, and the successful completion of our latest project, the 2014 SuperCon managers’ conference. I consider her a role model for any young professional to emulate.”

The association, a local chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, has provided service to the human resources community of Northwest Arkansas since 1971. With a membership of more than 350 professionals, the not-for-profit organization is dedicated to advancing the profession and serving the professional.

“It is a privilege to be recognized by my peers,” Tavano said. “I have the utmost respect for all of the professionals in NOARK and thank them for this honor.”

Tavano manages professional development programs from her office at the Global Campus Rogers facility. Business professionals can enroll in these workshops and certification preparation courses listed on the professional development network website page. The next Society for Human Resource Management classes designed to help professionals prepare for certification exams are set to begin Thursday, Feb. 26.

The Global Campus collaborates with other university units, businesses and organizations to provide workforce development for people seeking to advance professionally. It also supports U of A colleges and schools in the development and delivery of online degree programs, courses and other offerings.
