FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas Parent Partnership Association kicked-off the new school year with a bang. The group, a component of Parent and Family Programs in the Division of Student Affairs, is dedicated to helping families transition into the university community and to facilitate good communication between parents, students, and the U of A. General Membership is extended to all parents of enrolled Arkansas undergraduate students. The association also offers Cardinal Membership to parentswho want program extras including a Parent ID Card, scholarship opportunities for their student, and local/national discounts. This year marks the largest number of Parent Partnership Association Cardinal Members, with 665 taking advantage of this opportunity.

The association is also the umbrella organization for Regional Parents Clubs in Parent and Family Programs. Regional Parents Clubs were created to connect parents to the University of Arkansas in their respective communities. Membership is extended to any parent or guardian of a U of A undergraduate student. Clubs are currently located in Northwest Arkansas, Little Rock, AR, Kansas City, MO, and Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX. Clubs in Little Rock, Northwest Arkansas, and Dallas/Ft. Worth have already had record attendance at their first events of the semester.

“Participation at all of our events thus far has been amazing and we are looking forward to the rest of our events this semester. After each event parents have continually complimented us on the great job that the University and the Division of Student Affairs is doing to make sure that they feel part of the Razorback family,” said Alison Leach, assistant director of Parent and Family Programs in the Division of Student Affairs.

Regional Parent Clubs Meet and Greets were held in Little Rock, Dallas, and Kansas City. Other events included a reception prior to the New Student Welcome in Fayetteville; a tailgate party in Arlington prior to the Arkansas vs. Texas A&M football game, with the Arkansas Alumni Association and Razorback Foundation; and a tailgate party with the Arkansas Alumni Association in Little Rock prior to the Arkansas vs. Georgia game. Upcoming events include community service projects, athletic watch parties, and care package assembly events. New Student and Family Programs plans to start additional Regional Parents Clubs in the future. For more information about Regional Parents Club and the Parent Partnership Association, visit http://parents.uark.edu.
