Murphey Joins GSB as Associate Director of Executive Education

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – William C. Murphey has joined the Graduate School of Business at the Sam M. Walton College of Business as associate director of executive education.

In his new position, Murphey is responsible for delivering, implementing and managing Walton College’s custom, certificate and open enrollment executive education programs.

“The GSB is made up of an exceptional team of professionals dedicated to developing, coaching and supporting business leaders,” Murphey said. “Being a part of this team gives me the opportunity to find innovative ways to develop leaders and bring out the best in each of them.”

Before joining Walton in June, Murphey served 24 years in the United States Air Force and retired from the Pentagon as a colonel. His Air Force service included flying out of the Little Rock Air Force Base as a C-130 navigator, commanding several large operations and logistics organizations, and teaching graduate-level courses as an academic instructor. He received his commission from the Air Force ROTC detachment on the University of Arkansas campus.

Murphey graduated from the Walton College in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and has a strong background in supply chain management. Over the course of his career, he earned three master’s degrees in management, leadership and strategy and he now brings his unique military and academic experience to the Walton College.

“I’m excited to be back in Fayetteville, where my career began,” he said.

Two of his children are seniors at the U of A and his third child is a junior at Fayetteville High School. His wife, Angie, is from Eureka Springs.
