FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host a “Fulbright College Career Series” to assist Fulbright students in becoming more competitive candidates for employment and graduate school. The series will begin Tuesday, Feb. 4, and run until Thursday, April 10.

“Attending a career event and reflecting on the experience can be a powerful way for students to learn more about the occupational opportunities that exist for them,” said Erica Estes, director of employer relations for Fulbright College. “Students are given the opportunity to practice articulating how their coursework relates to professions, even those outside of their field.”

The series will offer nine training sessions including workshops on resume writing and interview techniques, career fairs, help deciding on majors and minors and information on pre-professional programs.

“When students are attending any of these events, they should prepare by doing three things,” said Estes. “Update or create their resume, research the companies they will speak to and dress professionally — at least business casual.”

A “Resume Workshop” will kick off the series 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in Kimpel Hall, room 409. All students are invited to attend and learn how to write a standout resume.

An “Interview Workshop” will be held 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the same location. Students will learn how to prepare for interviews and practice answering common questions. All students are welcome to attend.

There will be a “Resume Review Event” 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Arkansas Union Connections Lounge.

The series’ largest event, “UA Career Fair for All Majors,” will take place 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Alltel Ballroom in the Arkansas Union. Sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students are encouraged to come out and meet potential employers recruiting for internships and jobs from all industries.

An “Exploring UA Majors and Minors Fair” will be held at the same time in the Arkansas Union Connections Lounge for undecided students to gather information about university’s academic departments and receive assistance in choosing a major or minor.

A “Business Career Fair” will be 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium East Indoor Club. This event is for sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students of all majors to meet potential employers looking for interns or employees.

Also at the East Indoor Club, a “Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) Career Fair” will be held 10 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. This fair is for juniors, seniors and graduate students to meet potential employers looking for interns and employees in the science and mathematics fields.

A “Pre-Professional Workshop” will be held 6-6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the Arkansas Union. This workshop is designed for all students to learn tips for applying to pre-health or pre-law programs. The exact location will be posted on the Career Fest website.

The last event of the series will be an “Education Career Fair” 3-7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Alltel Ballroom. Graduating students are invited to attend and meet prospective employers for teaching positions with local, in state or out of state schools.
