Technology Education Instructor Chosen for International Group's Leadership Academy
Vinson Carter, University of Arkansas clinical instructor of technology education, has been selected to participate in the 2011 Class of the 21st Century Leadership Academy of the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association.
Carter was one of six young professionals in the United States chosen for the honor. He joined the faculty of the College of Education and Health Professions in 2008. A graduate of the college's Master of Arts in Teaching program, Carter previously taught drafting and design, architectural CADD, civil engineering and architecture at Springdale High School.
As a participant in the 21st Century Leadership Academy, Carter will attend several events at annual conferences of the association during the next two years, travel to Washington to take part in a legislative action session, and participate in monthly online sessions of the leadership academy.
The program was designed to create tomorrow's most successful and respected technology and engineering leaders, consultants and strategic thinkers. It incorporates knowledge and experiences from education leaders and other experts using practical and innovative advice on how leaders make a difference.
In 2008, Carter won the Donald Maley Spirit of Excellence Outstanding Graduate Student Citation from the association, and last year he was named teacher of the year by the Arkansas Association of Skilled and Technical Sciences division.
