Local Teachers to Study in Latvia
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Four Northwest Arkansas teachers have been selected to travel to the republic of Latvia with Rita Littrell, director of the Bessie B. Moore Center for Economic Education in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. The program is sponsored by the National Council on Economic Education.
The council utilizes economic educators from the United States to help these emerging market economies to develop programs that teach market economics. After an orientation in the District of Columbia, the teachers will travel to Latvia to visit schools, classes, teachers, universities, the central bank and the ministry of education.
In the spring of 2007 the Moore Center will host economic educators from Latvia. This opportunity will be a great experience for these selected teachers. Teachers traveling to Latvia with Littrell are: Heather Grosze, tenth grade business education teacher from Rogers; Jan Clark, sixth grade world studies teacher from Fayetteville; Kathy Short, fifth grade science and entrepreneurship teacher from Springdale; and Makayla Brown, seventh grade math teacher from Fayetteville.
This study is an activity of the Cooperative Education Exchange Program conducted by the National Council on Economic Education with funding from the U.S. Department of Education in coordination with the U.S. Department of State.
