DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT APPOINTED FOR COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Bruce Dunn of Fayetteville, Ark., has been appointed as director of development for the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, effective Dec. 18, 2000.
Dunn is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a degree in finance and banking. He is the former owner of an upscale clothing store, Mister Guy, which he owned and operated for more than 13 years. He has held leadership positions in several civic and professional organizations in Northwest Arkansas including president of the Northside Rotary Club, chairperson of the Town Center Election Committee, and president of Downtown Fayetteville Business Association. He has served as a board member of Children’s House and Downtown/Dickson Enhancement Project.
"I am extremely pleased that Bruce will be joining the College," said Sharon Hunt, interim dean of the College of Education and Health Professions. "He brings many years of customer relations skills and a sincere interest in the mission of the University of Arkansas to his new challenges."
Clay Edwards, assistant vice chancellor for development, said, "A critical mission of this College is to provide service to the state and region, and private support has been a key to the success it enjoys today. Bruce brings the enthusiasm we need to continue the fine efforts of the faculty and staff of the College of Education and Health Professions. The citizens of Arkansas benefit every day from these contributions."
Dunn said, "After living in Fayetteville for the past 18 years, I'm excited to be working for the university, an organization I can really believe in. Development allows me to use the people skills I honed in small business to contribute to the future of the College of Education and Health Professions."
As director of development, he also will play an important role in developing new relationships with alumni and friends as well as nurturing the existing partnerships with current supporters of the College.
In fiscal 2000, the College of Education and Health Professions raised $1.4 million in private gift support. Corporations and foundations provided 63.8 percent of that total, while alumni and friends gave 15.1 percent. Bequests account for 21.1 percent.
He is married to Debra Dunn.
