Twenty-two faculty members, scientists and researchers in U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences were recently recognized with milestone service awards to the college, university, Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station and UA Division of Agriculture.

- Timothy Killian, associate professor, human development and family sciences
- Jefferson Miller, professor and assistant dean for international programs; agricultural education, communications and technology
- Nathan Slaton, associate director, Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station
- Vibha Srivastava, professor; crop, soil and environmental sciences
- Allen Szalanski, professor, entomology and plant pathology

- Kathi Jogan, teaching assistant professor, animal science
- Jason Norsworthy, Distinguished Professor; crop, soil and environmental sciences

- Jamie Baum, assistant professor, food science

- Shelley McNally, clinical associate professor and executive director of education programs at the Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center

- Xiaolun Sun, associate professor, poultry science
- Margaret Worthington, associate professor, horticulture
In addition, Han-Seok Seo, professor in food science, and Bill Potter, associate professor in poultry science, were presented endowed chair medallions. Seo is the new holder of the Tyson Endowed Professorship in Food Sensory Science, and Potter, the new holder of the Poultry Federation Chair in Poultry Science.
Several faculty members were recognized for recent promotions, include professor Alvaro Durand-Morat and associate professor James Mitchell, both in agricultural economics and agribusiness; professor Rupesh Kariyat, associate professor Emily McDermott and Distinguished Professor Ioannis Tzanetakis, all in entomology and plant pathology; associate professor Jennifer Acuff, professor Jamie Baum and associate professor Ali Ubeyitogullari, all in food science; teaching associate professor Lance Cheramie in apparel merchandising and product development; and associate professor Matt Bertucci in horticulture.
Faculty were recognized for being named a fellow by their professional organizations in the past year, including Ainong Shi by the American Society for Horticultural Science, Paul DeLaune by the Soil Science Society of America and Chris Estepp by the American Association for Agricultural Education.
Ubeytogullari and assistant professor Dongyi Wang, both in food science, were honored for receiving career awards from the National Science Foundation.
Faculty were recognized for becoming first-time honors program mentors: Amanda Baxter, animal science; Sarah Hixson, apparel merchandising and product development; Young Min Kwon, poultry science; and Jada Thompson, agricultural economics and agribusiness.
Amanda Terrell, associate professor in human development and family sciences, and Nilda Burgos, professor in crop, soil and environmental sciences, were recognized for receiving the teaching award and the research award, respectively, from Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society of agriculture.
Dean Jeff Edwards also announced Bumpers College awarded 705 scholarships this year worth more than $1.9 million, which is an increase of more than $500,000 more than last year. He thanked individuals and families for endowing the Dr. James C. Atherton Endowed Award, the Craig Coon Endowed Graduate Scholarship, the Charles Maxwell Memorial Scholarship and the (Curt) Rom Horticulture Fund.
The ceremony was held at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House on Sept. 3.
