FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- John A. White, chancellor of the University of Arkansas, today announced his acceptance of all recommendations of the campus’s Task Force for the Enhancement of Greek Life. The recommendations were submitted to him on Friday, Oct. 11.
The task force, chaired by G. David Gearhart, vice chancellor of University advancement, consisted of fraternity representatives and individuals from other UA groups and organizations, including the Board of Trustees, the National Development Council, and the Arkansas Alumni Association.
"I have studied the report at length, and am highly pleased with the recommendations," White said. "It’s obvious that the task force really looked at these issues extensively and came back with a number of creative recommendations that will result in a stronger Greek system overall for the University.
"I want to praise the task force for the commitment and energy its members devoted to their charge, and to thank Dave Gearhart for the leadership he provided," White added. "There is nothing I would change or add to this excellent piece of work."
White also announced that Johnetta Cross Brazzell, vice chancellor for student affairs, will chair the implementation team as described in recommendation #20. The team’s mission will be to monitor progress on, and to answer question about, all recommendations. The team also will ensure that the Greek community stays within the spirit of the recommendations.
As the recommendation also mandates, Brazzell will send a slate of implementation team appointees to White for his approval.
