2010 Commission's Report 'Picking Up the Pace' Wins Case III Award

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — “Picking Up the Pace,” the second report from the University of Arkansas’ 2010 Commission, received an Award of Excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), District III.

The award recognizes the UA administration, the Office of University Relations, the Office of Institutional Research and the 2010 Commission and was presented at the district conference in Atlanta in February.

“This award reflects the dedication of numerous individuals who have volunteered their time and efforts toward the development of a comprehensive plan of action for the advancement of both the university and the state of Arkansas,” said Chancellor John White. “It is gratifying to have those efforts acknowledged for their clarity and persuasiveness.”

The 2010 Commission, a group of more than 90 business, education and government leaders within the state, was created to develop a plan for the University of Arkansas for the first decade of the 21st century—a plan to help bring Arkansas to greater economic and educational strength nationally.

Issued in March 2004, “Picking Up the Pace” was the second in a series of reports from the Commission. It served as a follow-up to the initial report “Making the Case: The Impact of the University of Arkansas on the Future of the State of Arkansas,” which was released in August 2001. The commission released its third report, “Gaining Ground,” earlier this month.

Established in 1974, CASE, headquartered in Washington, D.C., with an office in London, is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications and development. Its membership includes more than 3,000 colleges, universities and independent elementary and secondary schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico and 42 other countries. It is the largest nonprofit education association in terms of institutional membership with nearly 4,500 professional members. CASE is divided into eight districts. The University of Arkansas is part of District III, one of the largest districts comprising most of the Southern states and all of the Southeastern Conference schools. CASE III provides many support functions for universities, colleges and independent schools and is responsible for developing standards and practices in the fields of alumni relations, development and university relations.
