The U of A has released results from the COACHE Faculty Survey as part of its ongoing effort to meet the evolving needs of university faculty and strengthen its status as an employer of choice. Results of the survey are available on the COACHE Survey Results web page.
The survey was conducted in 2025 as part of a partnership with the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE), which is operated by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The COACHE survey enables the U of A to evaluate overall faculty job satisfaction at the university and within each academic unit and compare it with peer institutions and colleges.
"Our faculty play a critical role in the future of our state and nation by educating future generations, conducting ground-breaking research and becoming leaders in their fields through their scholarship," said Anna Zajicek, vice provost for faculty affairs. "They have a profound impact on the lives of our students, and the university must support them and provide them with the resources they need to succeed. The COACHE Survey is an invaluable tool that allows us to gauge our faculty's feedback and translate that into action to create a better institution that fosters career growth and support."
COACHE Survey results were shared earlier this spring with university leadership. College-specific results were also shared with each academic unit. The survey helped the university identify both the best aspects of working for the U of A and the areas that need the most improvement. The university has developed action plans to address the areas of improvement that were identified by the faculty. Action plans can be viewed on the COACHE Survey Results web page.
In addition to the COACHE Survey, the university also recently released results for the Employee Engagement Survey and Employee Value Proposition Survey, which includes feedback from faculty, staff and graduate assistants. These surveys are part of the university leadership's ongoing commitment to listen, learn and make improvements to help employees thrive, excel and enjoy working for the university.
