Publishing veteran and literary agent Anjali Singh will be on campus from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in HOEC 102, for a moderated Q&A. The event, sponsored by University of Arkansas' Creative Writing Association RSO, will include information on literary agents, queries and many other aspects of the publishing industry. Afterwards, a light meal will be served. This event is free and open to the university community.

Anjali Singh founded her own agency, The Anjali Singh Agency, in 2024 after 28 years in the publishing industry. Before launching her own company, she worked at Harlem-based boutique agency Ayesha Pande Literary for nine years. And before the agenting chapter of her life, she worked as editorial director at Other Press, as an editor at Vintage Books, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Simon and Schuster, and as a literary scout for international publishers.

She is best known for having championed Marjane Satrapi' Persepolis after stumbling across it on a visit to Paris and has always been drawn to the thrill of discovering new writers; Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Samantha Hunt, and Saleem Haddad are all writers whose careers she helped launch. She focuses on literary fiction and memoir as well as representing graphic novel writers and illustrators across all age ranges. For more information on her work, see Singh's website.

Again, this event will take place on Thursday, April 16th, from 7-8:30pm in HOEC 102. (Google Maps locator) Please feel free to contact Lizzie Fox (elf006@uark.edu), treasurer of the Creative Writing Association, if you have any questions.
